Regarding his approach to high-stakes competition, Russell shared his long-held belief system concerning destiny in racing. "In the past I’ve never really sort of believed in: ‘This is going to determine my destiny.’ I’m pleased that I did the job that I knew I was capable of and delivered in every moment when it was required," said George Russell, Mercedes driver.
When discussing his readiness for the remaining seventeen races this season, the British driver stressed that his preparation remains untouched. He confirmed that the Montreal issue did not cause him to lose significant focus or sleep over the outcome.
"Of course it was annoying, but I didn’t lose much sleep over it and I think I can continue doing that job for the 17 races to go," said George Russell, Mercedes driver.
Russell then shifted the competitive focus by analyzing the position of his teammate and title rival, Kimi Antonelli. He characterized the situation as one where the advantage lies heavily with the other driver, thereby reducing his own perceived burden of expectation.
He elaborated on this competitive dynamic, suggesting that his personal risk profile remains low in this phase of the season. "I don’t think I’ve got anything to lose, really. I feel I’m still going with that same mindset, that if I look at it from my competitor’s [Antonelli’s] position, you’re kind of in a position now that you’ve got such a buffer, it feels like you can only keep it or you can only lose it. I think it’s his to lose," said George Russell, Mercedes driver.
