PORTALBERITA.CO.ID - A localized fire incident was reported at the assembly facility belonging to PT BYD Motor Indonesia on Friday, June 12, 2026. The event took place specifically within the rooftop section of the manufacturing plant located in Subang, West Java.

The blaze was successfully contained and extinguished promptly through the utilization of the company's established internal fire suppression systems. This rapid response prevented the small incident from escalating into a more significant issue.

The primary factor leading to the outbreak of the fire has been officially identified as carelessness stemming from personnel working under a contracted project. This lapse in procedure resulted in the emission of dense smoke visible around the complex.

Luther Panjaitan, the Head of PR & Government Relations for PT BYD Motor Indonesia, confirmed the details surrounding the event. He emphasized that the incident was minor in scope and had a specific origin related to contractor actions.

"It was a small incident, there was indeed a slight oversight on the part of the contractor, and I emphasize that it was an individual case. Consequently, a small section of the roof caught fire," stated Luther Panjaitan.

As reported by Luther Panjaitan, the investigation concluded that the culpability lies with a specific individual from the external contracting team involved in ongoing site work. This points to an operational oversight rather than a systemic failure within BYD's core processes.

According to the company's public relations statement, thick plumes of smoke were indeed seen emanating from the location immediately following the ignition event. However, internal protocols ensured swift isolation of the affected area.

The prompt action taken by the plant's internal teams was crucial in managing the situation effectively. This ensured minimal disruption to the overall operations at the Subang assembly site.

The focus now shifts to reviewing safety protocols for all external workers engaged in construction or maintenance activities at the facility. This measure aims to prevent any recurrence of such negligence-induced incidents in the future.
