PORTALBERITA.CO.ID - Meta Platforms has announced a significant new investment totaling USD 115 million dedicated to establishing a specialized training program for data-center technician roles. This strategic move is directly linked to the social media giant's accelerated efforts to build out the necessary infrastructure to support its burgeoning artificial intelligence initiatives.
This newly unveiled, tuition-free initiative has been named the America’s Workforce Academy. As reported by Businesstimes, a key feature of this program is the guarantee of full-time employment opportunities for all individuals who successfully complete the required coursework.
The coursework is specifically designed to provide generalist training tailored precisely for the demands of data-center technicians. Graduates of the program will secure full-time positions working directly with general contractors currently engaged in Meta’s ongoing data-center construction projects across the country.
While the details regarding the scale remain somewhat opaque, a company spokesperson declined to specify the exact number of job openings that will be generated through this academy. Furthermore, the official withheld comment on the specific contracting companies involved or whether union roles would be integrated into these employment pathways.
The Associated Builders and Contractors construction trade group provided an industry projection regarding the program's scope. The group anticipates that thousands of individuals will receive training throughout the entire lifespan of the America’s Workforce Academy.
Dina Powell McCormick, Meta president and vice-chairman, commented on the broader technological landscape driving this investment. "The AI revolution is bringing change, but also historic opportunities," she stated.
This training commitment follows a period of aggressive talent acquisition efforts initiated by the company last year. Mark Zuckerberg spearheaded a high-budget hiring campaign in 2025, offering USD 100 million in signing bonuses to attract top artificial intelligence researchers away from competitors like OpenAI, as part of his vision for "personal superintelligence."
Internally, Meta has also undertaken significant restructurings focused on AI development, which included layoffs affecting approximately 10 percent of its global workforce, totaling around 8,000 employees. Simultaneously, a similar number of staff were reassigned to new departments focused on enhancing the company’s proprietary AI models and software tools.
The USD 115 million allocated for this training program represents only a small component of a much larger financial commitment. This funding is a tiny slice of the total USD 600 billion that Meta has pledged to invest in United States infrastructure and job creation over the course of the next three years.
