PORTALBERITA.CO.ID - A volatile scene unfolded on Jalan Meruya Selatan, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta, on Monday morning, June 22, 2026, culminating in public unrest and damage to a luxury vehicle. The incident began around 8:15 WIB when a high-end BMW electric car, bearing license plate B-77-NRI, was involved in a traffic collision.
The core of the dispute stemmed from accusations that the driver of the electric vehicle engaged in a hit-and-run maneuver. This alleged action followed the initial impact with a rider of a Honda Supra motorcycle.
Tragically, the motorcyclist sustained injuries as a direct result of the collision with the luxury car. The severity of the impact led to the victim requiring medical attention for the resulting wounds.
The sequence of events leading up to the confrontation was detailed by local law enforcement officials. The police confirmed the direction of travel for the vehicle involved in the accident.
As reported by AKP Joko Siswanto, the Head of Law Enforcement Unit (Kanit Gakkum) for the West Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit, the BMW electric car was moving southbound on Jalan Meruya Selatan prior to the crash.
"The BMW electric car was traveling from the north towards the south on Jalan Meruya Selatan before the collision occurred," stated AKP Joko Siswanto.
This alleged attempt to evade responsibility for the accident subsequently incited the anger of onlookers and bystanders present at the scene. The gathering crowd eventually escalated the situation into an act of public vandalism against the vehicle.
The police presence was required to manage the volatile crowd and secure the damaged property following the intense public reaction. Authorities are now investigating both the traffic violation and the subsequent public disturbance.
