PORTALBERITA.CO.ID - Citroen has officially rolled out an updated version of its electric hatchback, the Citroen e-C3X, manufactured locally in India. This strategic move aims to substantially broaden the appeal of the electric vehicle to a wider segment of Indian consumers.
The core strategy underpinning this price reduction is the introduction of an innovative battery subscription scheme. This model fundamentally alters the traditional ownership structure for electric vehicle buyers in the region.
This new offering is branded as the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program. Under this arrangement, customers benefit by purchasing the vehicle itself without immediately assuming the full capital investment associated with the battery pack.
This approach effectively mitigates the initial financial barrier to entry, which is often a major consideration for first-time EV purchasers. It shifts the high cost of the battery to a manageable operational expense.
As reported by Detik Oto, the implementation of the BaaS scheme has resulted in a significantly more attractive starting price point for the Citroen e-C3X. The vehicle is now available to consumers starting at just 6.89 lakh rupees.
This introductory price point translates to approximately 120 million Indonesian Rupiah in the Indian market context. This represents a considerable reduction compared to the standard retail price of the vehicle.
The standard, non-subscription price for the Citroen e-C3X is notably higher, listed at 10.25 lakh rupees. This equates to roughly 190 million Indonesian Rupiah, highlighting the substantial savings offered by the new leasing plan.
"The adoption of this BaaS scheme makes the selling price of the Citroen e-C3X much more attractive," As reported by Detik Oto. This confirms the manufacturer's focus on leveraging affordability to drive sales volume.
The manufacturer introduced this refreshed model and its associated financial innovation recently, signaling a direct challenge to competitors within India's rapidly expanding electric vehicle ecosystem.
